South India

| Our route: Chennai to Kochi |
During last year's cycle round SE Asia we hatched a plan for our next big adventure - settling on India as our next winter destination. We decided on South India not least because of our love of Indian cuisine and one of our favourite restaurants in Hemel - the Cochin π€©
We booked our flights back in August - flying from Heathrow to Chennai (formerly known as Madras) from where we would travel by tandem down the East coast then head inland towards the mountains and national parks to reach Kerala, then dropping down to the West Coast and our final destination, Kochi.
Max has mapped the route as meticiously as ever - we'll be spending 60 days in India, 24 days of cycling and a total of 1,400 kilometres.
True to form I've paid little attention to the route that Max has planned, instead focussing on how many change of clothes and "essential" items I can skillfully squeeze into my pannier π
A few people have commented on "those mountains" but I'm trying to push that to the back of my mind - one day at a time will be my mantraπ§♂️
I hope you enjoy following our blog and please post your comments along the way. It's always so lovely to hear from everyone; and it helps to keep us going when the going gets tough.

That's quite an adventure. Bon voyage! Looking forward to the scenery pics xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathy. I'm no David Bailey but I'll try my best π

ReplyDeleteThanks Helen, I'll do my best to deliver π
DeleteHello
ReplyDeleteGood to hear how you are both getting on. I am sure the blog will be as much about what you eat as the cycling! Glad to hear half of the days not cycling so you can see the country. Very impressed with your journey and hoping you enjoy it all. Christine.x
ReplyDeleteHa, ha, well I think our main challenge will be remembering to take photos before we devour what's put in front of us π€
DeleteHere's hoping you pick up a few recipes along the way! Have a fabulous time.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely π― - we definitely need some new tricks up our sleeves π
DeleteI told an Indian friend of mine about your trip - his mouth dropped open in awe π«’ Happy travels ❤️
ReplyDeleteOh wow, thanks for sharing that π€©. Perhaps he knows something I don't π³ π€π€£
DeleteActually currently cooking a late evening curry but it doesn't have the magic of true India. Tastes nice though
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure who this message is from but I'm glad you enjoyed your curry anyway ππ
